Dr. Dawn Hughes-Bissonnette

Dr. Dawn Hughes-Bissonnette hails from beautiful Prince Edward Island. Horses were always a fascination from day one as well as figure skating from the age of 7 to 17. After a year of agricultural college in Nova Scotia, Dr. Dawn applied to Ontario Veterinary College, in Guelph, Ontario. She graduated in 1986 and went to work at a busy clinic in Sarnia, Ontario.

Dr. Dawn’s husband is also a veterinarian and for some time they ran a mixed rural practice together in Shelburne. Her focus was pets (companion animals) and horses.

Currently she treats pets at Graham Animal Hospital – though is working on becoming certified in acupuncture for pets as well as horses.

Dr. Dawn lives with her husband, two dogs, and five cats in Erin. She boards her three horses near Hillsburgh, and trains her horses (and when time permits riders as well) in dressage with a ‘Natural Touch’. She is a Parelli Natural Horsemanship Level 3 graduate and is an approved Certified Horsemanship Association Instructor.
