DENISE LUKACS


DVM, MSc, BSc

Dr. Denise Lukacs received her Bachelor’s degree in Animal Biology from the University of Guelph in 2010. She completed her Master’s degree in Animal Behavior and Welfare, with a research interest in the behaviour and thermoregulation of elephants and giraffes. Dr. Lukacs completed her veterinary degree at the Ontario Veterinary College in 2016.

During university, Dr. Lukacs continued to work at Graham Animal Hospital, as a veterinary assistant, where she gained valuable experience in general practice and reproduction medicine.

Dr. Lukacs completed a one-year small animal rotating internship at VCA Hollywood Animal Hospital, near Miami, Florida, where the majority of her time was spent on the emergency and critical care service, as well as rotating with specialties in surgery, internal medicine, neurology, ophthalmology, dermatology and cardiology. Dr. Lukacs continues to enjoy emergency medicine, and also looks after the veterinary care for a local kitten rescue.

When she isn’t working, Dr. Lukacs spends her free time horseback riding, having competed to the international level in eventing. If you can’t find her at the clinic, she is usually at the barn, looking after her four horses. Dr. Lukacs also enjoys spending time with her two cats.
