Travelling with a bitch for breeding can cause stress and release of hormones that may prevent ovulation. Fresh chilled semen is a great option when geographic distance between the dam and sire is a challenge. Males with excellent semen quality are the best candidates, and over the years we have shipped fresh chilled semen successfully all over North America.
For fresh chilled semen shipments, we first collect and evaluate semen to determine if both the quality and the quantity are sufficient to achieve a pregnancy. It is highly recommended to have your dog’s semen evaluated before the shipping date to get your male used to the facility and procedure, but also to know what to expect on the day of shipping. After the collection, we analyze the semen, add extender, label the sample and package it for shipping. A full written semen evaluation report is included with the shipment and a copy is provided to the owner.
