DVM

Dr. Andrea Malatestinic grew up with dogs and horses in her heart and soul in the suburbs outside of Saint John, New Brunswick. Her childhood was spent either riding and showing horses and ponies, or by her mother’s side in the dog show world breeding and exhibiting Newfoundlands and English Cocker Spaniels. After graduating from high school, Andrea left the Maritimes and made her way to Ontario where she spent several years training and competing in the Equestrian discipline of 3 Day Eventing which eventually earned her a spot on the 1992 Canadian 3 Day Event Team Long List. With her sights on a more stable career, Veterinary School soon beckoned and she attended the Ontario Veterinary College graduating in 2002.

Following graduation, Andrea was blessed to have the opportunity to work at both an Equine Performance Horse practice and at Graham Animal Hospital. With her interests equally divided between horses and small animals, she eventually made the difficult decision to focus on Equine Veterinary practice, and for 17 years was a successful Equine Performance Horse Veterinarian in Southern Ontario. But the draw to go back to Small Animal Practice was strong and she found herself back at Graham Animal Hospital again in May 2020.

Andrea is devoted to promoting Pure Bred dogs and brings years of practical experience to small animal veterinary medicine. She is a passionate exhibitor and breeder of Bullmastiffs, and is proud to have owner- handled her dogs to many prestigious wins in both Canada and the United States. Her interests in small animal practice are in internal medicine, lameness, acupuncture and canine reproduction.
